OIC con­demns ter­ror­ist at­tacks in Bagh­dad

JED­DAH—The Gen­eral Sec­re­tariat of the Or­ga­ni­za­tion of Is­lamic Co­op­er­a­tion (OIC) con­demned in the strong­est terms the ter­ror­ist at­tacks that hit Bagh­dad on Wed­nes­day 11 May 2016 killing and in­jur­ing scores of in­no­cent civil­ians in the Sadr City mar­ket and in Kadhmiya and Jamiya neigh­bor­hoods in the Iraqi cap­i­tal.

The OIC Sec­re­tary Gen­eral, Iyad Ameen Madani de­nounced th­ese crim­i­nal acts com­mit­ted by the ter­ror­ist or­ga­ni­za­tion ‘Daesh’ which con­tin­ues its odi­ous at­tempts to un­der­mine the se­cu­rity and sta­bil­ity of Iraq.

The Sec­re­tary Gen­eral of­fered his con­do­lences to the fam­i­lies of the vic­tims, wish­ing the wounded speedy re­cov­ery.

Madani reaf­firmed the OIC’s firm po­si­tion on the unity of the ter­ri­tory and peo­ple of Iraq and the preser­va­tion of its sol­i­dar­ity, se­cu­rity and sta­bil­ity.

He also af­firmed the OIC’s readi­ness to work with the le­git­i­mate Iraqi au­thor­i­ties to achieve na­tional rec­on­cil­i­a­tion in the frame­work of the Makkah II Ini­tia­tive sup­ported by the 13th Is­lamic Sum­mit Con­fer­ence held in Is­tan­bul, Turkey, on 14-15 April 2016.—Email
