OIC condemns terrorist attacks in Baghdad
JEDDAH—The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attacks that hit Baghdad on Wednesday 11 May 2016 killing and injuring scores of innocent civilians in the Sadr City market and in Kadhmiya and Jamiya neighborhoods in the Iraqi capital.
The OIC Secretary General, Iyad Ameen Madani denounced these criminal acts committed by the terrorist organization ‘Daesh’ which continues its odious attempts to undermine the security and stability of Iraq.
The Secretary General offered his condolences to the families of the victims, wishing the wounded speedy recovery.
Madani reaffirmed the OIC’s firm position on the unity of the territory and people of Iraq and the preservation of its solidarity, security and stability.
He also affirmed the OIC’s readiness to work with the legitimate Iraqi authorities to achieve national reconciliation in the framework of the Makkah II Initiative supported by the 13th Islamic Summit Conference held in Istanbul, Turkey, on 14-15 April 2016.—Email
