Sit-in in Srinagar to show sol­i­dar­ity with JNU stu­dents

SRINAGAR—In oc­cu­pied Kash­mir, Um­mat e Is­lami or­ga­nized a sit-in at Press En­clave in Srinagar to ex­press sol­i­dar­ity with the stu­dents of Jawa­har­lal Nehru Univer­sity, Delhi.

The sit-in was or­ga­nized by the party’s youth wing to ex­press sol­i­dar­ity with Mu­jeeb Ga­too, Umar Khalid, Anirb­han and other JNU stu­dents. The univer­sity au­thor­i­ties have rus­ti­cated Anir­ban Umar for some semesters.

Fi­nan­cial penalty has been im­posed on 14 stu­dents. Hos­tel fa­cil­i­ties of two stu­dents have been with­drawn and the univer­sity has de­clared the campus out of bounds for two for­mer stu­dents.

Um­mat-e-Is­lami Chief Qazi Ahmed Yasir also joined the sit in and said.—KMS
