IBP banking awards today
KARACHI—Pakistan’s 28 banks will compete in 8 categories for the country’s first banking awards to be held on 13th May under the aegis of Institute of Bankers Pakistan (IBP). The awards are being organized in collaboration with A.F. Ferguson & Co., a member of PwC Global Network.
The jury of the awards include: Syed Salim Raza Former Governor, State Bank of Pakistan, Fuad Hashimi President & CEO, Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance, Nargis Ghallo Chairperson, State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan, Shehzad Naqvi Former Regional Head, Citibank Middle East & Pakistan, and Azhar Hameed Former Banking Mohtasib Pakistan and Former Country Head, SCB Pakistan.
“This is the very first banking awards in the history of Pakistan and 28 banks are participating in the event. We will try to include more financial institutions in the next banking awards as this awards function will be organized on yearly basis”, said Chief Executive IBP Hussain Lawai while addressing a press conference here.
He added the areas to be rewarded include financial inclusion, customer convenience, technology in banking, Islamic banking, trade finance including SME and agriculture. Ali Hassan, the co-organizer, said that the banking is one of those sectors which have performed tremendously well over the years but its achievements have not been recognized that is why banking awards are being organized.
‘The jury members have a very vast experience of working for the financial sector and they have worked very diligently to complete this very difficult task,’ he added. Later, Business Risk Consultant, A. F. Ferguson & Co, Syed Faraz Anwer announced the award categories and other details about the awards.
