SC reinstates Sultan Hinjra MNA from Muzaffargarh
Tribunal ruling overturned
ISLAMABAD—The Supreme Court on Friday annulling the Election Tribunal ruling has restored the membership of National Assembly member Sultan Mahmood Hinjra of PML-N elected from NA 176 Muzaffargarh. The top court overturned election tribunal decision for re-elections in the constituency.
The three-member bench of the apex court comprising Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman announced its reserved judgment. The top court decision authored by Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman was reserved on April 20, 2016.
It is worth mentioning here that the election tribunal on July 18, 2014 had disqualified Hinjra on the allegations of rigging. After his disqualifications Hinjra had moved the Supreme Court. Loser candidate Ghulam
Hinjra was also alleged to have won the election in NA-176 through fake results manipulated by returning officers. These allegations had led to disqualification of Hinjra.
