PINSAT, IST ink accord for scientific, technical collaboration
photo by Sultan Bashir ISLAMABAD—Preston Institute of Nano Science and Technology (PINSAT), Preston University, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Institute of Space Technology (IST) to pursue a programme of scientific and technical collaboration for the exchange of ideas, skills and techniques.
The MoU recognizes that mutual scientific and technical cooperation will advance the state of science, engineering and technology within the country, and strengthen the technological infrastructure and bring benefits to both the institutions.
The MoU was signed between PINSATPreston University and IST at a signing ceremony held at Preston University.
Prof. Dr. Zafar M. Khan, Director General Research, Innovation and Commercialization IST inked the MoU on behalf IST. Prof. Dr. N.M. Butt, Chairman Preston Institute of Nano Science and Technology sinned the MoU on behalf of PINSAT. Dr. Abdul Basit, Chancellor Preston University was also conspicuous by his presence at the signing ceremony. The primary objective of the MoU is to establish a formal linkage between the two institutions to boost research and technical cooperation in engineering science and technology in general and nanomaterials science and technology in particular, within the country and abroad, to bring benefit to both institutions by sharing resources wherever possible.
Some of the important areas identified and incorporated in the MoU, for mutual cooperation and benefit, include exchange and training of scientific and technical personnel for teaching, research and development and nanotechnology and joint or co-operated scientific research projects and technological development programs in selected areas of mutual interest.
Both the institutions would organize joint conferences seminars, symposiums, workshops and lectures at national and international level and supervise research students in selected areas of mutual interest and facilitate exchange of archives, publications and information. Vice Chancellor of IST, Engr. Imran Rahman who was also present on the occasion briefly mentioned about IST and its collaboration with national and international institutions for promotion of science and engineering education.
He was highly supportive of the MoU for mutual cooperation between the two institutions to boost research and technical cooperation in engineering science and technology in general and nanomaterials science and technology in particular.
