Over­com­ing en­ergy crisis govt’s top pri­or­ity: Asif

Govt to al­lo­cate huge funds for power gen­er­a­tion

SIALKOT—Min­is­ter for Wa­ter and Power Khawaja Muham­mad Asif has said that Pak­istan Mus­lim League Nawaz (PML-N) gov­ern­ment is com­mit­ted to cope with en­ergy crisis on top pri­or­ity ba­sis.

Talk­ing to APP at Pak­istan Mus­lim League House on Sun­day he said gov­ern­ment will al­lo­cate huge funds dur­ing next fis­cal year for power gen­er­a­tion and this process will con­tinue to ful­fill its prom­ise for get­ting rid of the load shed­ding.

Asif said, PML-N gov­ern­ment mo­bi­liz­ing all re­sources and chan­nels to get rid of the men­ace at ear­li­est and by virtue of ef­fec­tive poli­cies of the gov­ern­ment the du­ra­tion of load shed­ding has been re­duced to many folds as com­pare to pre­vi­ous year.

The Min­is­ter said the gov­ern­ment will ful­fill its prom­ises re­gard­ing en­ergy be­cause Pak­istan’s en­ergy se­cu­rity is top pri­or­ity of the PML-N gov­ern­ment. We are al­ready work­ing on strat­egy for over­com­ing the en­ergy crisis be­sides un­der the pro­gramme long, medium and short term power gen­er­a­tion plans had al­ready been ini­ti­ated in the coun­try.

He said the PMLN gov­ern­ment was mak­ing ad­e­quate ef­forts for strength­en­ing and sta­bi­liz­ing the in­dus­trial sec­tor be­cause the in­dus­trial sec­tor is back­bone of the na­tional econ­omy.

Khawaja Asif said gov­ern­ment was utiliz­ing suf­fi­cient funds for im­prov­ing the means of com­mu­ni­ca­tion in ru­ral and ur­ban ar­eas of the coun­try. The ba­sic ob­jec­tive of im­prov­ing the means of com­mu­ni­ca­tion was to bring­ing ne­glected ar­eas at equal par with the de­vel­oped ar­eas of the coun­try, he added.

He said that the mega pro­ject of China-Pak­istan Eco­nomic Cor­ri­dor (CPEC) will play piv­otal role in bring­ing revo­lu­tion­ary changes and usher eco­nomic sta­bil­ity and pros­per­ity in the coun­try.

Sim­i­larly, Gwador port will also play a dom­i­nat­ing role in strength­en­ing na­tional econ­omy and over­all de­vel­op­ment of the coun­try, he added. Gwador port and CPEC projects will open new vis­tas of de­vel­op­ment and pros­per­ity as well as en­sure em­ploy­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties for the peo­ple of the coun­try, he said.

Ear­lier, ad­dress­ing the peo­ple in Open Kutchary the Min­is­ter said that fed­eral and pro­vin­cial gov­ern­ments were utiliz­ing all avail­able re­sources for the timely com­ple­tion of projects for the pro­vi­sion of ba­sic fa­cil­i­ties to gen­eral pub­lic.—APP
