Gov­ern­ment pro­mot­ing grower-friendly poli­cies

VEHARI—Fed­eral Par­lia­men­tary Sec­re­tary for Hous­ing, MNA Syed Sa­jid Me­hdi Saleem said that the gov­ern­ment is pro­mot­ing grow­ers friendly poli­cies to achieve the des­tiny of self-suf­fi­ciency in agri­cul­ture.

He said that 70 per­cent of the to­tal pop­u­la­tion of the coun­try have lived in ru­ral ar­eas and con­nected with agri­cul­ture sec­tor.

Sa­jid Me­hdi ex­pressed th­ese views while ad­dress­ing the Kis­san con­ven­tion held at Agri­cul­ture uni­ver­sity Faisalabad sub-cam­pus Bure­wala.

He said that agri­cul­ture sec­tor has vi­tal role for im­prov­ing the eco­nomic con­di­tion of grow­ers and boost­ing the coun­try’s econ­omy.

He said that Pun­jab gov­ern­ment had as­sured ear­mark­ing Rs one bil­lion for Bure­wala cam­pus in up­com­ing bud­get adding that it would be help­ful to build new de­part­ments in the sub-cam­pus.

Vice Chan­cel­lor agri­cul­ture uni­ver­sity Faisalabad Dr Iqrar Baqir said that it was dire need to adopt Kisan friendly poli­cies as we spent huge amount for im­port of agri-com­modi­ties.

Agri­cul­ture ex­perts pro­vided in­for­ma­tion to grow­ers re­gard­ing mod­ern agri­cul­ture and Live­stock farm­ing, kitchen gar­den­ing, and in­creas­ing mango and cot­ton pro­duc­tion. On this oc­ca­sion, veg­etable-seeds were dis­trib­uted among the grow­ers.
