SC orders for PP-232 re-election
ISLAMABAD—The Supreme Court on Monday maintained the Election Tribunal (ET) verdict and ordered re-election in Punjab Assembly constituency PP-232 Vehari.
The three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and comprising Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Faisal Arab heard the case filed by Yousaf Kaselia against his disqualification by an ET.
It is to mention that Yousaf Kaselia won the 2013 general election as independent candidate and joined the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) after winning elections.
Pir Ghulam Mohyyudin Chishti who contested election on PML-N ticket challenged Kaselia’s victory before an Election Tribunal.
The ET after hearing arguments of both parties disqualified Kaselia over hiding of assets and ordered re-election in the constituency. During today’s course of proceedings, Advocate Shahzad Shoukat counsel for Yousaf Kaselia and Advocate Najam ul Hassan appeared on behalf of Chishti appeared before the bench.
