LHVs, vac­ci­na­tors’ role to be eval­u­ated thru smart-phones

KARACHI—Sindh Min­is­ter for Health Jam Me­htab Hus­sain Da­har has said that Sindh Health Depart­ment in col­lab­o­ra­tion with Aga Khan De­vel­op­ment Net­work is go­ing to launch a com­pre­hen­sive pro­gramme to mon­i­tor the per­for­mance of lady health vis­i­tors and vac­ci­na­tors. The per­for­mance will be eval­u­ated through smart-phones in rou­tine im­mu­niza­tion pro­gram and it will help to track staff lo­ca­tion, he said.

The Min­is­ter stated while talk­ing to a del­e­ga­tion of AKU here in his of­fice, said a state­ment on Tues­day. Dr. Shehla Zaidi and Saleem Sayani of AKU, Sec­re­tary Health, Ahmed Bux Narejo and DG Health, Hasan Murad Shah also at­tended the meet-ing. The Health Min­is­ter was in­formed that the said sys­tem was al­ready op­er­a­tional in Dis­trict Tando Muham­mad Khan and work­ing suc­cess­fully.

He said in first phase, the mon­i­tor­ing and eval­u­a­tion sys­tem for lady health vis­i­tors and vac­ci­na­tors will be launched in those dis­tricts where the per­for­mance is not sat­is­fac­tory. Through smart­phones not only the move­ments of the staff will be checked but the pho­tos of ev­ery vac­cine will be sent to mon­i­tor­ing room that will be es­tab­lished in Min­is­ter Health of­fice or Sec­re­tary Health of­fice as re­quired, he added

He said that LHVs and vac­ci­na­tors would be provided fuel and other fi­nan­cial sup­port based on their per­for­mance and non-per­form­ing staff would also be sus­pended while monthly mo­bile pack­age would be given to them as well.

He said that in­di­vid­ual mon­i­tor­ing sys­tem would en­hance ef­fi­cacy of rou­tine im­mu­niza­tion pro­gram. The Health Depart­ment has given post­ing to 139 women med­i­cal of­fi­cers who were pro­moted from Grade 17 to 18 and wait­ing for their post­ings.

While con­grat­u­lat­ing them, the Pro­vin­cial Min­is­ter of Health Jam Me­htab Hus­sain Da­har has ex-pressed the hope that they will work hard and serve the pa­tients in a bet­ter way be­cause the health de-part­ment has solved doc­tors’ long stand­ing is­sues.—APP
