IESCO ap­pre­hends more elec­tric­ity thieves

ISLAMABAD—The Islamabad Elec­tric Sup­ply Com­pany (IESCO) ap­pre­hended 13 more elec­tric­ity thieves in the com­pany’s re­gions in var­i­ous raids dur­ing its on­go­ing drive against power pil­fer­ers.

The spokesman told APP here that five cul­prits were caught red handed from Islamabad, one from Rawalpindi and seven from Chak­wal Cir­cles. He said the drive was launched on the di­rec­tives of CEO Dr Rana Ab­dul Jab­bar Khan. All cul­prits were found in­volved in power theft through di­rect line (Kunda Sys­tem) and by bro­ken se­cu­rity strip of the me­ter, he added.

He said FIRs have been lodged against power thieves un­der the new elec­tric­ity (Amend­ment) Act. He said the IESCO was com­mit­ted to tak­ing stern ac­tion the power thieve across its all five re­gions.

He said the new “ROSHNI SMS Ser­vice 8398” was serv­ing com­mend­ably in en­tire IESCO re­gion in­clud­ing Islamabad , Rawalpindi, Jhelum , Chak­wal and At­tock cir­cles. This ser­vice was get­ting mas­sive re­sponse from its users, he said. He said com­plaints re­gard­ing tar­iff, tem­po­rary con­nec­tion, late re­ceiv­ing of elec­tric­ity bills, over billing, low volt­age com­plaint could also lodge through this ser­vices be­side in­for­ma­tion about power theft by send­ing SMS to Roshni 8398.—APP
