Anti-Po­lio drive to start from May 23

RAWALPINDI—A five day anti-po­lio drive would start from May 23 in dis­trict Rawalpindi, to pro­vide drops to 811,798 chil­dren to pro­tect them from crip­pling disease.

Ex­ec­u­tive Dis­trict Health Of­fi­cer Dr. Ar­shad Ali Sabir told APP here Tues­day, the staff de­ployed for the cam­paign has been asked that no neg­li­gence in this re­gard would be tol­er­ated.

He said 1850 po­lio teams, 270 health cen­ters, 112 med­i­cal of­fi­cers , 371 area in­charges, al­lied hos­pi­tals and Tehsil Head­quar­ter hos­pi­tals would par­tic­i­pate in the drive.

We have taken spe­cial mea­sures to fur­ther strengthen the cam­paign. He said that se­nior staff of the dis­trict health depart­ment would mon­i­tor the work­ing of the teams. Spe­cial coun­ters would be set up at pub­lic parks, rail­way sta­tions, bus stands, wagon stands, air­port and other tran­sit points to ad­min­is­ter an­tipo­lio drops to the chil­dren so that no child of five years is not left out of im­mu­niza­tion, he added.

Dr. Ar­shad said the dis­trict health depart­ment was striv­ing for mak­ing Rawalpindi dis­trict po­lio-free. He hoped the cam­paign would be re­sult ori­ented and the set tar­get would be achieved.—APP
