JUI-F leader shot dead in Quetta

QUETTA—Uniden­ti­fied armed men gunned down a leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Is­lam (JUI-F) and for­mer Nazim here on Wed­nes­day.

Po­lice said that uniden­ti­fied armed men sprayed bul­lets at JUI-F leader and ex-Nazim Iqbal Kassi in Kach­lak Bazaar in sub­urbs of Quetta killing him on the spot.

The as­sailants sped from the scene of the crime and the body was moved to lo­cal hos­pi­tal for medico-le­gal for­mal­i­ties.

Heavy con­tin­gent of po­lice reached the scene af­ter the at­tack, cor­don­ing off the area con­ducted search op­er­a­tion but the mur­der­ers man­aged to flee.

Po­lice said that the in­ci­dent seems to be out­come of the per­sonal en­mity, how­ever, a case has been reg­is­tered against un­known mur­der­ers at re­spec­tive po­lice station and investigation was in progress. —INP
