Gem ex­hi­bi­tion kicks-off to­day

LA­HORE—The three-day Gems ex­hi­bi­tion is be­ing started from to­day (Fri­day) at Avari ho­tel, La­hore in a bid to pro­mote gems and jewellery sec­tor. Fed­eral Sec­re­tary for In­dus­tries & Pro­duc­tion, Khizar Hayat Gondal will for­mally in­au­gu­rate the ex­hi­bi­tion, or­gan­ised by the Pak­istan Gems & Jewellery Com­pany, said a press state­ment is­sued.

The main pur­pose of the ex­hi­bi­tion is to pro­mote this ex­port ori­ented sec­tor which had a po­ten­tial to fetch huge amount of for­eign ex­change for the coun­try,” said CEO Bakhtiar Khan, adding that the ex­hi­bi­tion will pro­vide op­por­tu­nity to more than 100 stall hold­ers to show­case the best of Pak­istani gem­stones, di­a­monds, jewellery, and min­eral spec­i­mens from across the coun­try in­clud­ing Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, La­hore, Quetta, Cha­gai, Gil­git-Baltistan, Hunza, Chitral and Pe­shawar. The ex­hi­bi­tion would re­main open till May 22, and the en­try will be free to pub­lic.—Agencies
