Po­lice books pris­oner for sui­cide at­tempt out­side court

LA­HORE—City Po­lice have reg­is­tered a case against an un­der trial pris­oner of Camp Jail for a sui­cide at­tempt with blade out­side lo­cal trial court while in po­lice cus­tody. Of­fi­cial sources told Pak­istan Ob­server that one of the un­der trial pris­oner Shahid 23, son of Hameed, res­i­dent of Green Town, men­tioned in FIR 378/15 un­der sec­tion 392 with Green Town Po­lice was taken out of prison for ap­pear­ing be­fore a trial court at Model Town who on way back at­tempted to com­mit sui­cide with shav­ing blade while in po­lice cus­tody which was foiled.

The jail au­thor­i­ties re­fused to ac­cept the pris­oner with­out proper med­i­cal ex­am­i­na­tion strictly in ac­cor­dance with jail man­ual and regis­tra­tion of FIR. Ear­lier, the same ac­cused tried to black­mail the prison staff of Cen­tral Jail, Kot­lakh­pat sev­eral times for ul­te­rior mo­tives and gain­ing un­due favour in jail who was awarded 16 pun­ish­ments by Su­per­in­ten­dent for mis­con­duct with jail­ers and was shifted to camp jail on ad­min­is­tra­tive ground. The un­der trial pris­oner is still in Po­lice cus­tody.
