KWSB for proper wa­ter sup­ply, drainage sys­tem at grave­yards

KARACHI—The Karachi Wa­ter and Sew­er­age Board (KWSB) has strictly di­rected the staffers to main­tain wa­ter sup­ply and drainage sys­tem in the grave­yards as a great num­ber of peo­ple will rush there to of­fer fateha on the graves of their beloved ones at Shab-e-Barat.

The Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor of KWSB Mis­bahud­din Farid and other of­fi­cials of the KWSB vis­ited sev­eral grave­yards here Satur­day to re­view the wa­ter sup­ply and san­i­ta­tion ser­vices.

Talk­ing to the me­dia on the oc­ca­sion, the MD KWSB said, the Su­per­in­tend­ing En­gi­neer of the given area would face dis­ci­plinary ac­tion if he re­ceived com­plaint of non com­pli­ance of wa­ter sup­ply or drainage prob­lem from the ci­ti­zens.

He said, he had di­rected the Chief En­gi­neers and SEs to per­son­ally visit all the grave­yards in their ju­ris­dic­tion to re­view the sit­u­a­tion and en­sure that the lower staff was prop­erly per­form­ing their duty.

Farid said the of­fi­cials had been asked to sup­ply wa­ter through wa­ter tankers in the grave­yards where piped wa­ter sup­ply could not be pro­vided. He was ac­com­pa­nied by SE Za­far Pal­ijo, XEn Asif Qadri and other of­fi­cers dur­ing the visit.—APP photo
