Ex­tra-or­di­nary se­cu­rity mea­sures to be taken on Shab-e-Barat

KARACHI—The In­spec­tor General of Po­lice (IGP), Sindh, A.D. Khawaja, has called for ex­tra-or­di­nary se­cu­rity on the oc­ca­sion of Shab-eBarat.

A po­lice spokesman said here on Satur­day said that the IGP also re­viewed the po­lice con­tin­gency plan in this re­gard.

Khawaja also di­rected that ef­fec­tive steps should be taken to curb use and sale of fire­crack­ers, aerial fir­ing and a co­or­di­nated crack­down should be launched against vi­o­la­tors.

Re­fer­ring to the con­tin­gency plan, the po­lice spokesman said that de­ploy­ment is be­ing en­hanced at over 207 grave­yards, 4,000 mosques, 315 Imam­barghas in all the three po­lice zones.

Ef­fec­tive steps have been taken for pa­trolling, pick­et­ing,snap check­ing, sur­veil­lance, in­tel­li­gence shar­ing and col­lec­tion etc.—APP
