Bekele wins Great Manch­ester Run

LON­DON —Ethiopia’s Kenenisa Bekele showed his en­dur­ing class by win­ning the 10 kilo­me­tre Great Manch­ester Run on Sun­day.

The dis­tance run­ning great, over­looked for se­lec­tion in the marathon at this year’s Olympics in Rio, fin­ished first in Manch­ester, north­west Eng­land, in a time of 28 min­utes and eight sec­onds, with Kenya’s Wil­son Kip­sang a fur­ther seven sec­onds be­hind in sec­ond place.

Tirunesh Dibabe, like com­pa­triot Bekele a three-time Olympic cham­pion, made it an Ethiopian dou­ble in Manch­ester by win­ning the women’s race in a time of 31 mins 16 secs.—AFP
