Min­hal to be­come first fe­male shooter rep­re­sent­ing Pak­istan at Olympics

KARACHI—Fe­male shooter Min­hal So­hail is all set to take part in the up­com­ing Rio Olympics later this year. She will be the first fe­male shooter to rep­re­sent Pak­istan at the mega sport­ing event.

The 22-year-old ex­pressed her hap­pi­ness over be­ing se­lected to rep­re­sent Pak­istan at the Olympics in Au­gust, say­ing “I have pre­pared well for Olympics and aim to win gold medal for Pak­istan.”

Min­hal started her ca­reer in 2012. Since then she has par­tic­i­pated in var­i­ous events world­wide and won many ac­co­lades.

“Par­tic­i­pat­ing in Olympics is like a dream come true for me, I am anx­iously wait for the event.”

The sportswoman urged her fel­low coun­try­men to al­low their chil­dren, es­pe­cially daugh­ters, to par­tic­i­pate in the sport­ing ac­tiv­i­ties.

“Sports en­hance chil­dren’s self-be­lief and con­fi­dent which helps them achieve their life goals.”

Min­hal, who se­cured the place in Olympics squad on quota, won the 10-me­tre Air Ri­fle event in the on­go­ing Na­tional Shoot­ing Cham­pi­onship at PNS Karsaz.—APP
