Jinna Kor tribes win his­tor­i­cal FR Pe­shawar Sports Fes­ti­val

PE­SHAWAR—The prom­i­nent tribe Jinna Kor clinched the over­all tro­phy of the his­tor­i­cal six-day FR Pe­shawar Peace Sports Fes­ti­val which con­cluded here amidst great en­thu­si­asm and fun.

Com­man­der 102 Brigade Inayat Hus­sain was the chief guest on this oc­ca­sion. MNA Qaiser Ja­mal, Lt. Col. Abid Mazhar, Ed­u­ca­tion Az­mat Khan, Agency Sports Of­fi­cer Sa­jid Khan Afridi and large num­ber of tribal youth, elders of the area, of­fi­cials were also present.

In the Fes­ti­val youth hail­ing from four dif­fer­ent tribes took part in events like cricket, foot­ball, vol­ley­ball, cy­cling, tu­gof-war, mu­si­cal chair, and archery. On the last and prize dis­tri­bu­tion day fi­nals of cricket, vol­ley­ball, foot­ball, tug-of-war, sack race and mu­si­cal chair were held with great en­thu­si­asm wit­nessed in the rank of the tribal youth.

In the fi­nal of the cricket Janna Kor tribe de­feated Gorwa tribe by seven wicket. Gorwa while bat­ting first scored only 65 runs and in re­ply Janna Kor chased the target for the loss of three wick­ets and marched into vic­tory.

In the foot­ball fi­nal Janna Kor tribe de­feated Hasan Kahil by 2-0. Dan­ish Aziz was the score for Janna Kor team. In the vol­ley­ball fi­nal Ashokhail tribe de­feated Hasan Khail by 25-19, 25-20 and 27-25. In the cy­cle race Sahib Ja­mal took first po­si­tion, fol­lowed by Fazal Rehman got sec­ond and Mu­ta­har took third po­si­tion re­spec­tively.

In the Archery Mu­ta­har got first po­si­tion by scor­ing most point as a re­sult of his ex­cel­lent target from 60m, fol­lowed by Fazale Karim, and Mu­dasir Ja­mal. In the Ju­nior Cy­cle Race Kashif took first po­si­tion, fol­lowed by Muhibur Rehman and Sawair Khan. Ihtisham got the tro­phy of the mu­si­cal chair con­tests, fol­lowed by Musa Khan and Dil­shad.

Com­man­der 102 Brigade Brig Inayat Hus­sain and MNA Qaiser Ja­mal gave away tro­phies and cash prizes. In their speeches both Brig. Inayat Hus­sain and MNA Qaiser Ja­mal lauded the or­ga­niz­ing committee for hold­ing the event with the aim to in­volve the youth of FR Pe­shawar in healthy sports ac­tiv­i­ties.

They said that now peace has been re­stored to FR Pe­shawar and that is why op­por­tu­ni­ties have been given to the youth of FR Pe­shawar, which is part of the tribal belt, to come and ex­hibit their hid­den ta­lent.

MNA Qaiser Ja­mal on this oc­ca­sion dis­closed that along with healthy sports ac­tiv­i­ties the fed­eral govern­ment is given due im­por­tance to ed­u­ca­tion.

He said for de­vel­op­ment of the ed­u­ca­tion and giv­ing am­ple op­por­tu­ni­ties to tribal youth to take ac­tive par­tic­i­pa­tion in sports and ed­u­ca­tion, soon con­struc­tion work on the first Univer­sity of the FATA will be started at Dara Adam Khail.

He said the Sports Com­plex would be com­pleted by 2018 wherein it has all fa­cil­i­ties of both in­door and out­door sport­ing events.

At end, the win­ner and run­ners up of the each event awarded tro­phy and Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 10,000 as cash prizes.—APP
