Jinna Kor tribes win historical FR Peshawar Sports Festival
PESHAWAR—The prominent tribe Jinna Kor clinched the overall trophy of the historical six-day FR Peshawar Peace Sports Festival which concluded here amidst great enthusiasm and fun.
Commander 102 Brigade Inayat Hussain was the chief guest on this occasion. MNA Qaiser Jamal, Lt. Col. Abid Mazhar, Education Azmat Khan, Agency Sports Officer Sajid Khan Afridi and large number of tribal youth, elders of the area, officials were also present.
In the Festival youth hailing from four different tribes took part in events like cricket, football, volleyball, cycling, tugof-war, musical chair, and archery. On the last and prize distribution day finals of cricket, volleyball, football, tug-of-war, sack race and musical chair were held with great enthusiasm witnessed in the rank of the tribal youth.
In the final of the cricket Janna Kor tribe defeated Gorwa tribe by seven wicket. Gorwa while batting first scored only 65 runs and in reply Janna Kor chased the target for the loss of three wickets and marched into victory.
In the football final Janna Kor tribe defeated Hasan Kahil by 2-0. Danish Aziz was the score for Janna Kor team. In the volleyball final Ashokhail tribe defeated Hasan Khail by 25-19, 25-20 and 27-25. In the cycle race Sahib Jamal took first position, followed by Fazal Rehman got second and Mutahar took third position respectively.
In the Archery Mutahar got first position by scoring most point as a result of his excellent target from 60m, followed by Fazale Karim, and Mudasir Jamal. In the Junior Cycle Race Kashif took first position, followed by Muhibur Rehman and Sawair Khan. Ihtisham got the trophy of the musical chair contests, followed by Musa Khan and Dilshad.
Commander 102 Brigade Brig Inayat Hussain and MNA Qaiser Jamal gave away trophies and cash prizes. In their speeches both Brig. Inayat Hussain and MNA Qaiser Jamal lauded the organizing committee for holding the event with the aim to involve the youth of FR Peshawar in healthy sports activities.
They said that now peace has been restored to FR Peshawar and that is why opportunities have been given to the youth of FR Peshawar, which is part of the tribal belt, to come and exhibit their hidden talent.
MNA Qaiser Jamal on this occasion disclosed that along with healthy sports activities the federal government is given due importance to education.
He said for development of the education and giving ample opportunities to tribal youth to take active participation in sports and education, soon construction work on the first University of the FATA will be started at Dara Adam Khail.
He said the Sports Complex would be completed by 2018 wherein it has all facilities of both indoor and outdoor sporting events.
At end, the winner and runners up of the each event awarded trophy and Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 10,000 as cash prizes.—APP
