Play ‘Umeed’ staged to cre­ate aware­ness about Po­lio, Dengue

RAWALPINDI—An in­for­ma­tive play ti­tled “Umeed” was staged at Rawalpindi Arts Coun­cil as part of an aware­ness cam­paign regarding po­lio and Dengue.

The play was writ­ten & di­rected by play­wright Na­heed Man­zoor which was at­tended by Mem­ber Na­tional As­sem­bly Chair­man PHA Ma­lik Abrar, Chair­man Rawalpindi Waste Man­age­ment Com­pany Raja Hanif Ad­vo­cate, Sar­dar Naseem Khan, Dr Jamal Nasir, ExMNA Ma­lik Shakil Awan, Haji Pervaiz Khan, Ra­hat Qadusi, ADGC Arif Rahim, Ad­di­tional Com­mis­sioner Tariq Mehmood Tariq, VC Arid Agri­cul­ture Univer­sity Rai Niaz Ahmed, Res­i­dent Di­rec­tor RAC Waqar Ahmed and oth­ers high of­fi­cial.

The drama was an ef­fort to cre­ate con­scious­ness among peo­ple about haz­ards of po­lio and dengue and con­se­quences in case of neg­li­gence. Fa­mous ac­tors Laiba Ali, Reha Yousaf, Rizwana Ali, Ah­sam Qureshi, Im­ran Rushdi, Amin Shahzada Shahid Kado, Khawar Ayub, Sawaira Shahzadi were in­cluded in lead­ing caste of the drama. Ad­dress­ing at the oc­ca­sion, Chair­man RWMC Raja Hanif Ad­vo­cate said that it was our col­lec­tive obli­ga­tion to fight against po­lio and dengue. At the end of cer­e­mony Chair­man RWMC Raja Hanif Ad­vo­cate awarded cash prizes and shield to Qur­ban Ni­azi on re­ceiv­ing Tamgha-e-Im­tiaz and of­fi­cials and non of­fi­cial were also given shields for play won­der­ful role in com­bat­ing po­lio and dengue.
