Civic Cen­tre Con­trol unit linked to CPO Karachi

KARACHI—The link of Com­mand and Con­trol Cen­ter (CCC) at Civic Cen­ter here has been pro­vided to the Cen­tral Po­lice Of­fice Com­mand and Con­trol Cen­ter with a view to pro­vide bet­ter se­cu­rity to the ci­ti­zens of Karachi.

As a re­sult, Com­mand and Con­trol Cen­ter setup in Cen­tral Po­lice Of­fice will also mon­i­tor 1240 CCTV cam­eras in­stalled un­der the Com­mand of Civic Cen­ter Con­trol Room, said a state­ment on Friday.

Com­man­dant Spe­cial Se­cu­rity Unit (SSU) Maq­sood Ahmed said that due to new ar­range­ments, the sur­veil­lance sys­tem of whole Karachi has been put un­der one um­brella and will be mon­i­tored through Com­mand and Con­trol Cen­ter CPO while Com­mand and Con­trol Cen­ter Civic Cen­ter will con­tinue to func­tion as usual.

As a re­sult of th­ese ar­range­ments, the sur­veil­lance sys­tem can help lo­cate, trace and fol­low the law breakers through­out the city es­pe­cially crimes com­mit­ted on streets.

The ef­forts are also be­ing made to in­crease the num­ber of high res­o­lu­tion CCTV cam­eras through­out the city of Karachi.

He fur­ther stated that ef­forts are un­der­way to im­prove the non-func­tional cam­eras and re­move other short­com­ings.

The CPO has al­ready un­der­taken qual­ity and quan­tity au­dit for the cam­eras sup­plied ear­lier and their main­te­nance, he added.
