Rich tributes paid to Aasiya, Neelo­far in IOK

SRI­NA­GAR—The Se­nior leader of All Par­ties Hur­riyet Con­fer­ence (APHC) Muhammad Yousuf Naqash has paid glow­ing tributes to Aasiya and Neelo­far on their 7th mar­tyr­dom an­niver­sary and said that strict ac­tion should be taken against the cul­prits.

Aasiya and Neelo­far were ab­ducted by In­dian men in Uni­form on May 29 in 2009 and raped in cus­tody. Their bod­ies were re­cov­ered from a shal­low stream in the town on the next morn­ing.Muhammad Yousuf Naqash along with party lead­ers Showkat Ahmad Khan and Sa­j­jad Ahmad Lone vis­ited the Ram­biar Nal­lah, Shopian, where an event in mem­ory of Asiya and Neelo­far was or­gan­ised.

Ad­dress­ing the gath­er­ing, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash said that the Shopian Ahmad Gulzar, Fa­rooq Tauheedi, ac­tivists of Demo­cratic Free­dom Party, Jammu and Kash­mir Mus­lim League and Mus­lim Khawa­teen Markaz took out a rally in Shopian to re­mem­ber the two women, Aasiya and Neelo­far. They also de­manded im­par­tial probe into the in­ci­dent and ex­em­plary pun­ish­ment to the in­volved In­dian troops.

Hur­riyet leader Javaid Ahmad Mir in a state­ment is­sued in Sri­na­gar, pay­ing glow­ing tributes to Asiya and Neelo­far of Shopian said that de­spite the pas­sage of seven years, In­dia and its stooges in the ter­ri­tory had failed to ar­rest and pun­ish the peo­ple in­volved in their rape and mur­der.
