Knowl­edge main step to­wards peace: Jha­gra

PESHAWAR —Governor Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa Eng. Iqbal Za­far Jha­gra has said Knowl­edge and re­search was the main step for the peace and de­vel­op­ment of any na­tion. He said ed­u­ca­tion is pre­req­ui­site for achiev­ing pros­per­ity and de­vel­op­ment.

He said that our youth are bril­liant and tal­ented and we are com­mit­ted to equip them with the lat­est knowl­edge so that we could change the course of his­tory and the des­tiny of the na­tion. He said that ed­u­ca­tion is es­sen­tial for achiev­ing a re­spectable po­si­tion among comity of na­tion.

He ex­pressed these views while ad­dress­ing the 2nd Con­vo­ca­tion of Abasyn Uni­ver­sity, Peshawar on Tues­day. Governor dis­trib­uted 300 de­grees among stu­dents of dif­fer­ent dis­ci­plines and lev­els. Among the other guests, Chan­cel­lor of the Uni­ver­sity Im­ran Khan, fac­ulty mem­bers and guests from dif­fer­ent schools of thoughts also par­tic­i­pated.

Ad­dress­ing the Con­vo­ca­tion cer­e­mony of the Abasyn Uni­ver­sity as a chief guest, the Governor said that steps are be­ing taken to en­sure the pro­vi­sion of bet­ter and higher ed­u­ca­tion fa­cil­i­ties to the stu­dents adding that youth should play a con­struc­tive role in de­vel­op­ment of coun­try. He said that mil­i­tancy, law­less­ness, and de­pri­va­tions were not the des­tiny of our next gen­er­a­tion; rather they need fa­vor­able en­vi­ron­ment for a bet­ter fu­ture.

He said that govern­ment is mak­ing con­certed ef­forts to se­cure the fu­ture of our chil­dren. The Governor ap- pre­ci­ated the ef­forts of ad­min­is­tra­tion of the Uni­ver­sity for pro­vid­ing the bet­ter ed­u­ca­tion en­vi­ron­ment to the stu­dents.

While con­grat­u­lat­ing the grad­u­at­ing stu­dents, the Governor urged them to play a pos­i­tive role in con­struct­ing the im­age of our so­ci­ety as a whole, be­cause only ed­u­cated youth can erad­i­cate cor­rup­tion from the so­ci­ety and bring pos­i­tive change.

Chan­cel­lor of the Uni­ver­sity Im­ran Khan also ad­dressed the con­vo­ca­tion. He also thanked the Governor for com­ing to the cer­e­mony, only de­spite his busy sched­ule. He fur­ther­more em­pha­sized that his in­sti­tute will con­tinue to play their role in the bet­ter­ment of the so­ci­ety and will not com­pro­mise on the stan­dards.

At the con­clu­sion of the cer­e­mony the Governor con­grat­u­lated and ap­plause gold medal­ists and their par­ents and an­nounced an amount of Rs. 10,000 each for the gold medal­ists grad­u­ates. At the end, the Governor also prayed for the suc­cess­ful heart surgery and early re­cov­ery of Prime Min­is­ter Mo­ham­mad Nawaz Sha­reef.
