Suicide or murder

Pakistan Observer - - OPINION - WAJIHA MASUD

I would like to draw your attention towards the incident that took place in Jaffarabad; where district police officer Jahanzaib Khan Kakar was found dead in his office under mysterious circumstances. He was laid to rest in his native town in Balochistan the other day. After undergoing an autopsy, Kakar’s body was handed over to the DSP Dera Allah Yar and PDSP Jaffarabad. According to the post-mortem report, a bullet wound, reportedly from Kakar’s 9-mm service weapon, was found in the officer’s right temple.

It is to be said that this was sucide attempt. However, Dr Kakar said the circumstantial evidence collected by police surgeons indicated the officer was killed. “Initial autopsy reports prepared by the medical officer of the Civil Hospital has also supported the views of the police surgeon. The brother of SSP argued in case of suicide, brain leaks out of skull immediately. However, police officials who reached scene did not find any sign of brain leakage of the deceased. Further more pistol should have fallen to ground from his hand but it was found near his body. He had been recieving threatning calls for many days after arresting two people from influential family in case of child abuse, and also after successfull operation against Khosa and Bugti tribes.

SP Jahanzaib Khan Kakar, who was considered one of best police officers in Pakistan, was also working on some sensitive cases, according to the sources. Because he was pride of Pakistan and no one could dare to kill our pride, our personnels like this.
