OIC SG meets Qatar’s FM

DOHA—The Sec­re­tary Gen­eral of the Or­gan­i­sa­tion of Is­lamic Co­op­er­a­tion (OIC), H.E. Iyad Ameen Madani, met with the Min­is­ter for For­eign Af­fairs of the State of Qatar, H.E. Sheikh Muham­mad Bin Ab­dur Rah­man Al Thani, at the Qatari Min­istry of For­eign Af­fairs in Doha on Mon­day 30 June 2016.

Both sides re­viewed the bi­lat­eral re­la­tions be­tween the OIC and Qatar and ex­pressed their de­ter­mi­na­tion to en­hance co­or­di­na­tion and co­op­er­a­tion in ar­eas of com­mon in­ter­est, in­clud­ing com­bat­ing ter­ror­ism and ex­trem­ism through po­lit­i­cal con­sul­ta­tion mech­a­nism. The Sec­re­tary Gen­eral praised Qatar’s pi­o­neer­ing role in sup­port­ing hu­man­i­tar­ian causes, and called for greater con­sul­ta­tion be­tween Qatar and OIC to in­crease the pos­i­tive im­pact of joint Is­lamic ac­tion.

For his part, the Qatari min­is­ter af­firmed his coun­try’s sup­port for the ef­forts of the OIC in all fields and un­der­scored the need for syn­ergy in ad­dress­ing the cur­rent chal­lenges fac­ing the Mus­lim world.—Email
