Tariq Fazal re­views progress on de­vel­op­ment projects in cap­i­tal

ISLAMABAD—Min­is­ter of State for Cap­i­tal Ad­min­is­tra­tion and De­vel­op­ment Divi­sion (CADD), Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry Satur­day re­viewed progress of dif­fer­ent on­go­ing de­vel­op­ment projects in the Fed­eral Cap­i­tal.

On this oc­ca­sion, se­nior of­fi­cers of the au­thor­ity, Project Di­rec­tors of dif­fer­ent projects, of­fi­cers of con­cerned for­ma­tions also ac­com­pa­nied him.

While in­spect­ing du­al­iza­tion of road be­ing con­structed from Sec­tor E-11 to D-12, Min­is­ter of State for CADD, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that the road would not only fa­cil­i­tate the residents of Sec­tor E-11 and D-12 but would also con­nect other new res­i­den­tial sec­tors in fu­ture, there­fore, this road should be con­structed to cater fu­ture de­mands.

He said due to heavy flow of traf­fic, the de­sign of the road should fur­ther be im­proved so that the traf­fic from Mar­galla Road to E-11 could en­ter with­out any in­ter­rup­tion.

He also di­rected for up-gra­da­tion and im­prove­ment work of ser­vice road along the main road.

On this oc­ca­sion, Tariq Fazal was ap­prised that the road would be com­pleted by Jan­uary, 2017 at the cost of Rs.170.00 mil­lion.

How­ever, he di­rected the con­cerned for­ma­tion of the Au­thor­ity to com­plete this project by Septem­ber, 2016 as the project is of im­mense im­por­tance, which would help ease traf­fic flow in the area.

He fur­ther di­rected to sub­mit work­able and ef­fec­tive sug­ges­tions within a week time so that the road could be con­structed as per fu­ture traf­fic needs.

Later on, Min­is­ter also visited Sec­tor D-12 along with CDA of­fi­cers.

He was in­formed that all de­vel­op­ment project re­lated to Sec­tor D12 would be com­pleted by 30th June, 2016.

Tariq Fazal urged that the mat­ters per­tain­ing to ac­qui­si­tion of land should be re­solved with mu­tual un­der­stand­ing and in peace­ful man­ner.

He was in­formed that land for Ser­vice Road East has been ac­quired, while work on pro­vi­sion of ser­vices in­clud­ing wa­ter sup­ply, sew­er­age sys­tem, road net­work and drainage sys­tem is be­ing car­ried out at fast pace.

He was also in­formed that car­pet­ing work on ma­jor roads in Sec­tor D-12 is be­ing car­ried out by Ma­chin­ery Pool Or­ga­ni­za­tion of the Au­thor­ity, whereas con­struc­tion of roads in­side Sec­tor D-12 is be­ing done by the con­trac­tor.

Min­is­ter was in­formed that car­pet­ing of roads in Sec­tor D-12 was car­ried out sev­eral years ago but due to rapid con­struc­tion of hous­ing units in the sec­tor, CDA would carry out fi­nal re-car­pet­ing of the roads af­ter com­ple­tion of con­struc­tion ac­tiv­i­ties.

He di­rected the con­cerned for­ma­tions to com­plete de­vel­op­ment work at the ear­li­est.

He said that work on car­pet­ing of the ma­jor roads, lane mark­ing and fix­a­tion of cat eyes in these sec­tors be started im­me­di­ately.

He fur­ther di­rected to en­sure in­stal­la­tion of street lights and pro­vi­sion of al­lied fa­cil­i­ties in this sec­tor.

Min­is­ter also visited the stalled project of Mar­galla High­way. On this oc­ca­sion, Project Di­rec­tor briefed the State Min­is­ter for CADD about the is­sues per­tain­ing to the project. State Min­is­ter for CADD was in­formed that is­sues per­tain­ing to the project in­clud­ing, grave­yard which falls in the align­ment of Mar­galla High­way, need to be re­solved for re­in­state­ment of de­vel­op­ment work on the project.
