Lon­don meet de­mands re­peal of dra­co­nian laws in IOK

heads of pro-free­dom Kash­miri or­gan­i­sa­tions and rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the Bri­tish Kash­miris have sought the in­ter­ven­tion of hu­man rights or­ga­ni­za­tions, heads of UK po­lit­i­cal par­ties, Euro­pean Union, and Chair­man of All Par­ties Par­lia­men­tary Group on Kash­mir in Britain to use their influence for re­lease of se­nior Hur­riyet leader Shab­bir Ah­mad Shah and re­peal of dra­co­nian laws in oc­cu­pied Kash­mir.

The de­mand was made through me­moran­dum jointly passed at a meet­ing in Birm­ing­ham. The lead­ers, who had come from var­i­ous cities of the United King­dom to at­tend the meet­ing also called for re­moval of dra­co­nian laws like Armed Forces Spe­cial Pow­ers Act, Ter­ror­ism and Dis­rup­tive Ac­tiv­i­ties Act and Pub­lic Safety Act.

Among those who par­tic­i­pated in the meet­ing in­clude: Dr Mis­far Has­san, Ab­dul Jab­bar Bhat, Sabir Gul, Er­shad Ma­lik, Javid Iqbal Kakroo, Ms Rana Shama Nazir, Inam-ul-Haq, Bashir Ratvi, Bar­ris­ter Ashraf, Professor Za­far Khan, Tehseen, Na­jeeb Af­sar, Professor Li­aqat, Professor Az­mat Khan, La­teef Sani, Mun­sif Dad Mirza, Amin Sani, Abid Khan and oth­ers.—Email
