Ram­dan Cup to com­mence from June 8

KARACHI—Naya Naz­imabad Ram­dan Cup 2016 car­ry­ing a purse of Rs 2,000,000 would be­gin from June 8 here at Naya Naz­imabad Lawai Sta­dium.

As many as 16 teams are par­tic­i­pat­ing in Ram­dan Cup where 31 matches would be played from May 08 to July 05.

Chair­man of Tour­na­ment Com­mit­tee of Ram­dan Cup 2016, Arif Habib said at a press brief­ing held at Karachi Gymkhana on Tues­day.

The cup car­ries to­tal prize money of Rs 2,000,000 where win­ner of the tour­na­ment would get Rs 1,000,000 while run­ner-up would be given Rs.500,000, he said.

Be­sides, prizes would be dis­trib­uted among man of the tour­na­ment, Best Bowler, best bats­man, best wicket keeper, man of match, man of the quar­ter-fi­nals, man of semi-fi­nals, man of the match fi­nal and best of dis­ci­pline team, he added.

All expenses of the tour­na­ment in­clud­ing prize money is be­ing borne by Arif Habib com­pany and Naya Naz­imabad project, he said adding so far we did not con­tact any or­ga­ni­za­tion for spon­sor­ship of the event but we will try for spon­sor­ship to add more col­ors to the Tour­na­ment.

The tour­na­ment is be­ing or­ga­nized in ac- cor­dance with ICC/PCB T-20 laws and other In­ter­na­tional laws, he said.

Some matches would be tele­cast live on Geo-Su­per and the matches will com­mence at 11:00 pm sharp.The re­port­ing time of the teams at ground would be 10:30 pm.

Toss will take place at 10:45 pm and if team does not re­port in the ground by 11:00 pm then walk-over will be awarded.

We are or­ga­niz­ing this event to pro­mote the sports ac­tiv­i­ties in Karachi city for youth, he said.

We are in process of regis­tra­tion of Karachi Sports Foun­da­tion (KSF) and it would be fi­nal­ized by end of 2016, he said this while re­ply­ing to a ques­tion.

Teams par­tic­i­pat­ing in the tour­na­ment in­cludes Na­tional Bank of Pak­istan, State Bank of Pak­istan, United Bank Lim­ited, Sui South­ern Gas Com­pany Lim­ited, Sui North­ern Gas Pipe­line Lim­ited, Omar As­so­ciates, PIA Col­ors, K-Elec­tric, Dol­lar East Eleven, Qasmi Cricket Club, Da­wood Sports, Ea­ton Cricket Club, Alam­gir Gymkhana, He­roes Cricket Club and Atiq Es­tates.

Among oth­ers, Samad Habib, Muham­mad Iqbal, Riaz Ud­din, Shoib Muham­mad were also present on the oc­ca­sion.—APP
