Six ter­ror­ists killed, 2 es­cape

Six ter­ror­ists were killed, while two oth­ers es­caped dur­ing armed en­counter with Counter Ter­ror­ism De­part­ment’s po­lice force past mid­night Wed­nes­day in the lim­its of Chubara po­lice sta­tion. Ac­cord­ing to CTD sources, a cred­i­ble source in­formed them of pres­ence of eight ter­ror­ists in the ju­ris­dic­tion of Chubara po­lice in district Layyah.

They said ter­ror­ists be­long­ing to Al- Qaida and TTP were plan­ning to at­tack of­fices and per­son­nel of LEA’s. A team of CTD from Mul­tan raided hide­out of the ter­ror­ists who opened straight fire at the team. The po­lice also re­tal­i­ated. Six ter­ror­ists were found dead when fir­ing stopped, the source in­formed, adding that ter­ror­ists were killed by fir­ing of their own ac­com­plices.

Sources said two ter­ror­ists man­aged to es­cape un­der the cover of dark­ness. The po­lice re­cov­ered two hand- grenades, two au­to­matic ri­fles, one TT pis­tol, and a mouser. CTD au­thor­i­ties launched in­ves­ti­ga­tion into the in­ci­dent.—
