Police Chiefs mull to develop uniformity, adopt standardization in practical working
ISLAMABAD— The fifteen Police chiefs of the police service of Pakistan met in National Police Management Board meeting ( NPMB) held by the National Police Bureau ( NPB) at Islamabad to introspect functioning challenges, pondering for pragmatic prognosis to enhance police professionalism.
The half- yearly retreat deliberated on the policy issues to develop uniformity and standardization in police practical working. The get- together was marked by Police chiefs offering Fateha, solemnizing for thousands of police martyrs and praying for early recoveries of many thousands of maimed police officers in the war against terrorism and organized crime.
Eminent DG NPB Mr. Iqbal Mehmood former IGP Sind, hosting the conference, setting the theme said that police organization have severe challenges, yet leadership has shown resilience, its human resource despite extraneous interference have fought back against criminality and terrorism. He appreciated incumbent National Coordinator/ NACTA Ihsan Ghani former DG NPB, for reshaping bureau with the tumultuous support of Ministry of Interior. Iqbal added that Wonderful things can be achieved through teamwork and collaboration.
The meeting was chaired by iconic Mr. Nasir Khan Durrani IGP KP, senior most police officer Pakistan police, attended by galaxies of IsGP namely Mushtaq Sukera Punjab, Ihsan Ghani NACTA, AD Khawaja Sind, Ahsan Mehboob Baluchistan, Zafar Awan GB, Bashir Memon AJK, Liaquat Khan FC, Shakaut Hayat Motorway, Farook Amin police foundation, Khaliq Dad Lak IB, Muhammed Amlish FIA, Tariq Yaseen Islamabad, Saeed Naveed from NPA while no one from the Railway police participated in the session.
Overall in a three hour session NPMB dealt with 23 agenda points mostly of a policy nature to homogenize police everyday functioning. Principally meeting focused for recommencement of police officers deployment to UN, placement of police officers in foreign missions to curb transnational crime, issuance of gallantry awards, enhancement in its remuneration, uniformity on pay packages, uniform, salaries, audit of training institute, improvement in service delivery, status of police order 2002, annual policing plan, statutory administration report, sharing of best practices, remedial measures for thana culture, inter organizations sports tournament, creation of media cell, planning department, internal affairs department, collection of PSP data, declaration of a national police shuhuda day.
IGP Mushtaq Sukera shared numerous new initiatives of Punjab, appreciating CM Punjab for daunting support to the Punjab police and agreed to lead in many of the new proposals of the meetings. Mr. Nasir Durrani IGP acknowledged to have transform KP police offered to share several best practices and many envisaged operational and training initiatives. Ihsan Ghani, Ahsan Mehboob, Shakaut Hayat suggested for unabated capacity building of the leadership and its human resources. DG NPB concluded, by offering for all out support from police think tank, thanked the Police chiefs on behalf of Bureau and Ministry of Interior for attending the meeting.
