Po­lice Chiefs mull to de­velop uni­for­mity, adopt stan­dard­iza­tion in prac­ti­cal work­ing

ISLAMABAD— The fif­teen Po­lice chiefs of the po­lice ser­vice of Pak­istan met in Na­tional Po­lice Man­age­ment Board meet­ing ( NPMB) held by the Na­tional Po­lice Bureau ( NPB) at Islamabad to in­tro­spect func­tion­ing chal­lenges, pon­der­ing for prag­matic prog­no­sis to en­hance po­lice pro­fes­sion­al­ism.

The half- yearly re­treat de­lib­er­ated on the pol­icy is­sues to de­velop uni­for­mity and stan­dard­iza­tion in po­lice prac­ti­cal work­ing. The get- to­gether was marked by Po­lice chiefs of­fer­ing Fateha, sol­em­niz­ing for thou­sands of po­lice mar­tyrs and pray­ing for early re­cov­er­ies of many thou­sands of maimed po­lice of­fi­cers in the war against ter­ror­ism and or­ga­nized crime.

Em­i­nent DG NPB Mr. Iqbal Mehmood for­mer IGP Sind, host­ing the con­fer­ence, set­ting the theme said that po­lice or­ga­ni­za­tion have se­vere chal­lenges, yet lead­er­ship has shown re­silience, its hu­man re­source de­spite ex­tra­ne­ous in­ter­fer­ence have fought back against crim­i­nal­ity and ter­ror­ism. He ap­pre­ci­ated in­cum­bent Na­tional Co­or­di­na­tor/ NACTA Ih­san Ghani for­mer DG NPB, for re­shap­ing bureau with the tu­mul­tuous sup­port of Min­istry of In­te­rior. Iqbal added that Won­der­ful things can be achieved through team­work and col­lab­o­ra­tion.

The meet­ing was chaired by iconic Mr. Nasir Khan Dur­rani IGP KP, se­nior most po­lice of­fi­cer Pak­istan po­lice, at­tended by gal­ax­ies of IsGP namely Mush­taq Suk­era Pun­jab, Ih­san Ghani NACTA, AD Khawaja Sind, Ah­san Me­hboob Baluchis­tan, Za­far Awan GB, Bashir Me­mon AJK, Li­aquat Khan FC, Shakaut Hayat Mo­tor­way, Fa­rook Amin po­lice foun­da­tion, Khaliq Dad Lak IB, Muhammed Am­lish FIA, Tariq Yaseen Islamabad, Saeed Naveed from NPA while no one from the Railway po­lice par­tic­i­pated in the ses­sion.

Over­all in a three hour ses­sion NPMB dealt with 23 agenda points mostly of a pol­icy na­ture to ho­mog­e­nize po­lice ev­ery­day func­tion­ing. Prin­ci­pally meet­ing fo­cused for recom­mence­ment of po­lice of­fi­cers de­ploy­ment to UN, place­ment of po­lice of­fi­cers in for­eign mis­sions to curb transna­tional crime, is­suance of gal­lantry awards, en­hance­ment in its re­mu­ner­a­tion, uni­for­mity on pay pack­ages, uni­form, salaries, au­dit of train­ing in­sti­tute, im­prove­ment in ser­vice delivery, sta­tus of po­lice order 2002, an­nual polic­ing plan, statu­tory ad­min­is­tra­tion re­port, shar­ing of best prac­tices, re­me­dial mea­sures for thana cul­ture, in­ter or­ga­ni­za­tions sports tour­na­ment, cre­ation of me­dia cell, plan­ning de­part­ment, in­ter­nal af­fairs de­part­ment, collection of PSP data, dec­la­ra­tion of a na­tional po­lice shuhuda day.

IGP Mush­taq Suk­era shared nu­mer­ous new ini­tia­tives of Pun­jab, ap­pre­ci­at­ing CM Pun­jab for daunt­ing sup­port to the Pun­jab po­lice and agreed to lead in many of the new pro­pos­als of the meet­ings. Mr. Nasir Dur­rani IGP ac­knowl­edged to have trans­form KP po­lice of­fered to share sev­eral best prac­tices and many en­vis­aged op­er­a­tional and train­ing ini­tia­tives. Ih­san Ghani, Ah­san Me­hboob, Shakaut Hayat sug­gested for un­abated ca­pac­ity build­ing of the lead­er­ship and its hu­man re­sources. DG NPB con­cluded, by of­fer­ing for all out sup­port from po­lice think tank, thanked the Po­lice chiefs on be­half of Bureau and Min­istry of In­te­rior for at­tend­ing the meet­ing.
