Zoo at­tracts vis­i­tors af­ter ad­di­tion of lions

ISLAMABAD— A pair of African Lions added to the Marg­hazar Zoo by the Cap­i­tal De­vel­op­ment Author­ity ( CDA) has at­tracted the vis­i­tors, es­pe­cially chil­dren whose num­ber has sig­nif­i­cantly in­creased to well­come the new in­hab­i­tants. The vis­i­tors form twin cities are com­ing with their fam­i­lies to the zoo to see the lions af­ter long time in Islamabad.

Talk­ing to APP, Mem­ber En­vi­ron­ment CDA Sanaullah Aman said that two lions have been brought to the Marg­hazar Zoo un­der Ex­change of Birds and An­i­mals Pro­gramme from the Pun­jab Govern­ment to pro­vide re­cre­ational fa­cil­i­ties to the cit­i­zens.

He said ne­go­ti­a­tions, to add a fe­male ele­phant, with com­pe­tent fo­rum of Sri Lankan govern­ment are at fi­nal stages and it is ex­pected that it would also be added soon. Ve­teri­nary doc­tor of Zoo has been di­rected to take proper care of food and health of an­i­mals of Marg­hazar zoo.

Zoo ad­min­is­tra­tion has been di­rected to sub­mit rec­om­men­da­tions for fur­ther im­prove­ment in the fa­cil­i­ties be­ing pro­vided at this fa­cil­ity to make Mag­hazar Zoo a state- of- the- art fa­cil­ity. CDA in­vites schools and chil­dren of the city to visit the Marghzar Zoo in the va­ca­tion and is start­ing a Facebook cam­paign to name these two lions.
