PMDC con­ducts exam for 3,000 for­eign qual­i­fied MBBS grad­u­ates

ZUBAIR QURESHI IS­LAM­ABAD—Around 3,000 grad­u­ates of MBBS from var­i­ous for­eign uni­ver­si­ties Thurs­day ap­peared in Pak­istan Med­i­cal & Den­tal Coun­cil (PMDC) Na­tional ex­am­i­na­tion board (NEB) step I held at Pak-China Cen­ter with sup­port from Sha­heed Zulifqar Ali Bhutto Med­i­cal Univer­sity/ PIMS Is­lam­abad. The step II exam is go­ing to be held to­day (Fri­day) in which 721can­di­dates would ap­pear. In the Step I & II ex­am­i­na­tion al­most 3,000 can­di­dates are ap­pear­ing in to­tal which is the high­est no of can­di­dates ap­pear­ing in the NEB exam in the his­tory of PM&DC.

Dr Amir Hus­sain Ban­deshah Mem­ber Ex­ec­u­tive Com­mit­tee of PM&DC has said that on June 2 and 3 around 3000 can­di­dates will ap­pear for in to­tal. He said that for the first such a huge num­ber of can­di­dates have ap­peared in this ex­am­i­na­tion, how­ever to have a proper check and hold­ing a suc­cess­ful trans­par­ent ex­am­i­na­tion, many mem­bers of PM&DC were present at the ex­am­i­na­tion hall.

Ac­cord­ing to the handout, the test is manda­tory for the doc­tors who want to do prac­tice in the coun­try. PM&DC will not tol­er­ate any type of cor­rup­tion as there has been a bad im­age of the ex­am­i­na­tion. PM&DC new coun­cil has pledged to im­prove the sys­tem of the ex­am­i­na­tion and over first pri­or­ity to erad­i­cate cor­rup­tion.
