Home Min­is­ter for action against ex­tor­tion, forcible re­cov­ery of ‘Fi­tra’

KARACHI—Sindh Home Min­is­ter, Suhail An­war Sial, has called for stern action against ex­tor­tion and forcible re­cov­ery of ‘Fi­tra’ dur­ing Ramzan ul Mubarak. Chair­ing a meet­ing here on Thurs­day at the Cen­tral Po­lice Of­fice (CPO) he also re­viewed the law and or­der in the prov­ince in the com­ing month of Ramzan.

The Min­is­ter di­rected stern action against ex­tor- photo tion and forcible re­cov­ery of ‘Fi­tra’ and in­structed the po­lice of­fi­cials not to leave their place of duty be­fore and af­ter ‘If­tar’.

He told In­spec­tor Gen­eral of Po­lice (IGP), Sindh, A.D. Khawaja, who also at­tended the meet­ing along with se­nior po­lice of­fi­cers, that it has been ob­served that often there is in­crease in in­ci­dents of da­coities dur­ing Ramzan so ef­fec­tive steps be en­sured to curb such in­stances in the prov­ince.

Min­is­ter Sial also di­rected the se­nior po­lice of­fi­cers that in co­or­di­na­tion and con­sul­ta­tion with the of­fi­cials of the Mar­ket As­so­ci­a­tions con­cerned, po­lit­i­cal, re­li­gious and so­cial per­son­al­i­ties of the ar­eas, mea­sures be taken for re­solv­ing any pos­si­ble is­sues that come up dur­ing Ramzan.

The IGP di­rected that fool-proof se­cu­rity steps be taken for mosques, Imam­barghas, mar­kets, Bachat Bazars and places where Tar­aveeh prayers are of­fered. A strat­egy be pre­pared im­me­di­ately in this re­gard for prompt im­ple­men­ta­tion.
