A budget full of shocks

Pakistan Observer - - OPINION - HASHIM ABRO

The past track record of the present ruling party reflects it has always given the biggest shocks to the common man whenever they have presented the annual budget. In line with the past practice and tradition, this time too, the incumbent ruling elite is endeavouring to achieve through the juggling of numbers-more and more shocks to the masses - in the budget for the fiscal year 2016-17. The available facts and figures and reliable sources in the relevant Ministries and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reveal that the budget will make the poor poorer. The PML( N) government budget has to be corporate-friendly, not the poor and salaried class people-friendly. The budget would reduce the tax for corporate sector but unfortunately there would be nothing for farmers/growers. Sindh Province, agriculture, health and education, women, girls and children would remain neglected in this federal budget 2016-17. So far the facts and figures and the jugglery of the numbers has been full of shocks. Let’s see what the poor and salaried class, women, girls, health, education and environment-friendly allocations are announced in the budget 2016-17 on the floor of the National Assembly.
