JKLF protests against separate colonies in IHK
SRINAGAR—The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leaders and activists today organized protests throughout the Valley against construction of separate colonies for Kashmiri Pandits and retired Indian soldiers, East India company-type new industrial policy intended to change the demography of Jammu Kashmir.
As the JKLF activists organized protests sit-ins and hoisted black flags as a mark of protest throughout the valley, police were seen removing these black flags for the whole day. During the peaceful protest programme, police arrested JKLF leader Muhammad Ishaaq Ganai, raided JKLF offices at Abi Guzar to arrest JKLF zonal president Noor Muhammad Kalwal and zonal organizer Bashir Kashmiri, raided residence of JKLF district Pulwama president Javed Ahmad Butt and many others at Soura and other parts of the city. lfThe JKLF leaders and activists were holding banners and placards with slogans against the establishment of separate colonies for Kashmiri Pandits and retired Indian soldiers. The JKLF activist during the rallies denounced the continued illegal detention of party Chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik, in Srinagar central jail and other party activists and demanded their immediate release.
Meanwhile, the JKLF leaders also staged a sit-in protest in front of the UN Observer Office in Islamabad in protest against the arrest of party Chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik and the establishment of separate colonies for Kashmiri Pandits and retired Indian soldier in the occupied territory.—KMS
