JKLF protests against sep­a­rate colonies in IHK

SRINAGAR—The Jammu Kash­mir Lib­er­a­tion Front (JKLF) lead­ers and ac­tivists to­day or­ga­nized protests through­out the Val­ley against con­struc­tion of sep­a­rate colonies for Kash­miri Pan­dits and re­tired In­dian sol­diers, East In­dia com­pany-type new in­dus­trial pol­icy in­tended to change the de­mog­ra­phy of Jammu Kash­mir.

As the JKLF ac­tivists or­ga­nized protests sit-ins and hoisted black flags as a mark of protest through­out the val­ley, po­lice were seen re­mov­ing these black flags for the whole day. Dur­ing the peace­ful protest pro­gramme, po­lice ar­rested JKLF leader Muham­mad Ishaaq Ganai, raided JKLF of­fices at Abi Guzar to ar­rest JKLF zonal pres­i­dent Noor Muham­mad Kal­wal and zonal or­ga­nizer Bashir Kash­miri, raided res­i­dence of JKLF district Pul­wama pres­i­dent Javed Ah­mad Butt and many oth­ers at Soura and other parts of the city. lfThe JKLF lead­ers and ac­tivists were hold­ing ban­ners and plac­ards with slo­gans against the es­tab­lish­ment of sep­a­rate colonies for Kash­miri Pan­dits and re­tired In­dian sol­diers. The JKLF ac­tivist dur­ing the ral­lies de­nounced the con­tin­ued il­le­gal de­ten­tion of party Chair­man, Mo­ham­mad Yasin Ma­lik, in Srinagar cen­tral jail and other party ac­tivists and de­manded their im­me­di­ate re­lease.

Mean­while, the JKLF lead­ers also staged a sit-in protest in front of the UN Ob­server Of­fice in Is­lam­abad in protest against the ar­rest of party Chair­man, Mo­ham­mad Yasin Ma­lik and the es­tab­lish­ment of sep­a­rate colonies for Kash­miri Pan­dits and re­tired In­dian sol­dier in the oc­cu­pied ter­ri­tory.—KMS
