Arthur to reach Pakistan next week, Shaharyar
LAHORE—Chairman, Pakistan Cricket Board, Shaharyar M Khan said on Friday that head coach Mickey Arthur will hopefully arrive Pakistan on June 8 to take up his assignment with
“Mickey will not be having any specific role in the team selection but obviously as head coach his input will be taken on selection matter “,he said.
Chairman PCB said Mickey will be supervising the Pakistan cricket teams pre series camp at Hampshire, in England.
Answering a question, he said Pakistan team for the tour of England will be named in a couple of days.
To another question ,he said the fitness of opener Muhammad Hafeez is improving and he has joined the skill training camp but the coaches have yet to determine his fitness level and it is hoped that he will be fit before the tour of England and will be available for the selection.
Shaharyar Khan expressed his optimism that pace bowler, Muhammad Amir will get the visa of England to travel with the team and PCB is in touch with the concerned quarters in this regard.
Chairman PCB congratulated the Karachi team for winning the U16 title and said PCB was taking every measure to promote cricket at grass root level.
“We are in process of chalking out a comprehensive plan to revive cricket at early level and in the educational institutions from school to university level “, he said adding “We will soon be implementing this plan across the country.”
He said in the PCB school championship as many as one thousand schools will be participating which will help in broadening the base of the game and helping the selectors to find fresh blood to groom it for future needs.—APP
