‘PN to en­sure Gwadar se­cu­rity’

LA­HORE—Chief of the Naval Staff Ad­mi­ral Muham­mad Zakaullah vis­ited Pak­istan Navy War Col­lege here Mon­day and ad­dressed the par­tic­i­pants of the 45th PN Staff Course.

His talk was mainly fo­cused on the pre­vail­ing geo-strate­gic en­vi­ron­ment and en­hanced re­spon­si­bil­i­ties of Pak­istan Navy in the wake of up­com­ing Gwadar port and CPEC projects. He said that the global en­vi­ron­ment con­tin­ues to be in a state of tran­si­tion and mul­ti­ple power cen­ters are emerg­ing.

He said: “Our na­tional pros­per­ity and se­cu­rity is in­trin­si­cally linked to the de­vel­op­ment of mar­itime sec­tor and a strong Navy is the in­sur­ance for the se­cu­rity of Pak­istan”. He said that Pak­istan Navy is fully pre­pared to en­sure se­cu­rity of Gwadar Port and its ad­join­ing wa­ters and ca­pac­ity build­ing, where re­quired, is rapidly tak­ing place with the as­sis­tance of Govern­ment. The Ad­mi­ral high­lighted that the time had come where we as a na­tion, are over­com­ing the sea blind­ness and there was a grow­ing un­der­stand­ing of the mar­itime po­ten­tial of Pak­istan. He al­luded that Pak­istan Navy, with­out get­ting into arms race, was fully ca­pa­ble and de­ter­mined to over­come the chal­lenges. He praised the govern­ment’s ef­forts for the de­vel­op­ment of China Pak­istan Eco­nomic Cor­ri­dor and Gwadar Port which will ex­po­nen­tially in­crease the mar­itime ac­tiv­i­ties in our wa­ters.—Agen­cies
