Best med­i­cal fa­cil­i­ties to peo­ple top pri­or­ity: She­hbaz

LA­HORE—Pun­jab Chief Min­is­ter Muham­mad She­hbaz Sharif re­viewed in de­tail dif­fer­ent steps for pro­vi­sion of qual­ity health fa­cil­i­ties to the peo­ple of the prov­ince through three hours long video con­fer­ence from Lon­don.

Ad­dress­ing video­con­fer­ence, the Chief Min­is­ter said that ser­vice to the ail­ing hu­man­ity is a form of wor­ship. He said that pro­vi­sion of best treat­ment fa­cil­i­ties to the peo­ple of the prov­ince is our pri­or­ity. He said that all con­cerned in­sti­tu­tions would have to play their ac­tive role for en­sur­ing qual­ity pub­lic health fa­cil­i­ties. He said that best fa­cil­i­tates of treat­ment is ba­sic right of the masses and we all have to im­prove health fa­cil­i­ties for the peo­ple. He said that there was nei­ther shortage of re­sources ear­lier nor will in fu­ture for im­prove­ment of health sec­tor.

He said that health­care sys­tem would have to be har­mo­nized in ac­cor­dance with mod­ern de­mands to come up to the ex­pec­ta­tions of the masses.

He said that ef­fec­tive mon­i­tor­ing sys­tem is vi­tal for con­tin­u­ous su­per­vi­sion of pub­lic health fa­cil­i­ties. She­hbaz Sharif di­rected to evolve health man­age­ment in­for­ma­tion sys­tem as soon as pos­si­ble. He said that work will have to be car­ried out on mod­ern lines for pro­vid­ing qual­ity health fa­cil­i­ties to the peo­ple at teach­ing hos­pi­tals, district and tehsil head­quar­ters hos­pi­tals. He said that im­me­di­ate steps should be taken for im­prov­ing clean­li­ness ar­range­ments in the hos­pi­tals.

The Chief Min­is­ter di­rected that com­plete record of med­i­cal equip­ments and ma­chin­ery should be main­tained in the hos­pi­tals and their au­dit work should be com­pleted at the ear­li­est. He said that we all will have to meet the chal­lenge of avail­abil­ity of qual­ity medicines to the pa­tients and ev­ery nec­es­sary step will be taken in this re­gard. She­hbaz Sharif said that he will not tol­er­ate busi­ness of sub­stan­dard or spu­ri­ous medicines and no one will be al­lowed to play with hu­man lives through this heinous trade.

He di­rected to take in­dis­crim­i­nate le­gal ac­tion against the per­sons in­volved in sale and prepa­ra­tion of sub­stan­dard and fake drugs as pro­vi­sion of qual­ity medicines to the pa­tients is our re­spon­si­bil­ity.

He fur­ther di­rected that a com­pre­hen­sive model should be pre­pared for dis­posal of hos­pi­tals waste in a proper man­ner and im­me­di­ate im­ple­men­ta­tion should be en­sured in this re­gard. He said that im­me­di­ate re­port should be pre­sented re­gard­ing re­or­ga­ni­za­tion of In­sti­tute of Pub­lic Health.

He said that a com­pre­hen­sive plan should be evolved for pro­vid­ing qual­ity food in the hos­pi­tals. He said that mul­ti­di­men­sional steps would have to be taken for im­prov­ing health­care ser­vices for en­sur­ing qual­ity treat­ment to the pa­tients. The Chief Min­is­ter said that re­forms in Pro­vin­cial Qual­ity Con­trol Board and in­sti­tu­tions of Chief Drug Con­troller are need of the hour, there­fore au­ton­o­mous sys­tem be evolved for mak­ing both the in­sti­tu­tions vi­brant and ac­tive and fi­nal plan based on com­pre­hen­sive re­forms be pre­sented within two weeks.

Secretary Spe­cial­ized Health and Med­i­cal Ed­u­ca­tion and Secretary Pri­mary and Se­condary Health gave a de­tailed brief­ing re­gard­ing pro­vi­sion of qual­ity health fa­cil­i­ties to the peo­ple of the prov­ince.
