Pak ju­nior bad­minton team an­nounced

LA­HORE—Pak­istan Bad­minton Fed­er­a­tion on Mon­day an­nounced its four mem­ber ju­nior team to take part in SCG Bad­minton Asia Ju­nior Cham­pi­onships be­ing played next month in Bangkok, Thai­land

The team has been named af­ter two day tri­als held at New Khan bad­minton hall in which play­ers from all the af­fil­i­ated units of PBF par­tic­i­pated and the best avail­able tal­ent was cho­sen, said a spokesman of PBF here.

He said Pun­jab play­ers dom­i­nated the tri­als and out of four, three are from Pun­jab. Fol­low­ing were se­lected ,Shah­meer Iftikhar, Shehroz Jamil, Ah­mer Jalal (Pun­jab) and Zo­haib Khan Khalil (KPK).

The play­ers will par­tic­i­pate in boys sin­gles and dou­bles events and we ex­pect good per­for­mance from them, he said ad­ding the se­lected team will un­dergo ex­ten­sive train­ing here un­der the su­per­vi­sion of na­tional coaches till its de­par­ture to Thai­land.

The spokesman said PBF is tak­ing ev­ery mea­sure for the pro­mo­tion of the game and it is en­sur­ing the par­tic­i­pa­tion of its na­tional ju­nior and se­nior teams in im­por­tant Asian tour­na­ments to ex­pose the play­ers to high pro­file ex­pe­ri­ence.

PBF is hold­ing Na­tional Ju­nior and Se­nior Bad­minton Cham­pi­onships next month we are con­fi­dent to iden­tify bad­minton tal­ent from th­ese events which will be groomed un­der a sys­tem­ized pro­gramme, he added.—APP
