Role of uni­ver­si­ties vi­tal in skill de­vel­op­ment: PBIT

FAISAL­ABAD—Uni­ver­si­ties should come up with new in­no­va­tive ideas to ad­dress the prob­lems of the peo­ple and the county as they can play a piv­otal role in the skill de­vel­op­ment of the stu­dents. Pun­jab Board of In­vest­ment and Trade (PBIT) Chair­man Muzaf­fer Mi­raj Khawaja said this while talk­ing to Univer­sity of Agri­cul­ture Faisal­abad Vice Chan­cel­lor Prof Dr Iqrar Ah­mad Khan here on Tues­day. He stressed upon the need to en­hance the skills of stu­dents with prac­ti­cal work so that they could face the chal­lenges of prac­ti­cal life ef­fec­tively.

He said that no na­tion could en­sure de­vel­op­ment with­out skills de­vel­op­ment and hard work. “Coun­try is blessed with tremen­dous re­sources and there is dire need to tap the po­ten­tial”, he added. He said a large num­ber of the peo­ple were fac­ing mal­nu­tri­tion and it was a mat­ter of great con­cern. UAF Vice Chan­cel­lor Prof Dr Iqrar Ah­mad Khan said that agri­cul­ture is the back­bone of the econ­omy. He said that this year, cot­ton pro­duc­tion had faced the set back due to the cli­mate changes.

He said that govern­ment ini­tia­tives of the low­er­ing down the fer­til­izer and pes­ti­cides prices would bring the tan­gi­ble re­sults for the farm­ing com­mu­nity. He said that the UAF was mak­ing all-out ef­fort to en­sure the qual­ity ed­u­ca­tion.—APP
