SBP beat SJAL in ex­hi­bi­tion cricket match

LA­HORE—Sports Board Pun­jab (SBP) cricket team de­feated Sports Jour­nal­ists As­so­ci­a­tion of La­hore (SJAL) by seven wick­ets in an ex­hi­bi­tion flood­light cricket match here Mon­day night at Aleem Dar Cricket Academy ground.

Azhar Ali, the cap­tain of Pak­istan ODI team, was the chief guest on this oc­ca­sion.

Deputy Di­rec­tor SBP Tariq Wat­too and for­mer Pres­i­dent of La­hore Press Club Ar­shad An­sar­i­also wit­nessed the thrilling en­counter.

SJAL XI cap­tain Mo­ham­mad Yaqoob won the toss and elected to bat first. SJAL XI scored 55 runs for the loss of four wick­ets in the stip­u­lated overs. Hafiz Shah­baz, who hit 19 runs, was the ma­jor con­trib­u­tor for his team. He also struck a tow­er­ing six in his brisk knock. SBP Ab­dul La­teef re­mained the most suc­cess­ful bowler with two wick­ets while Abid and Amir also dis­missed one bats­man each.

In re­ply, As­sis­tant Di­rec­tor SBP Waqas Ak­bar and Olympian Kh Ju­naid opened the in­nings and pro­vided their team a rea­son­able start. Di­rec­tor Sports Pun­jab Hafeez Bhatti also ex­hib­ited his bat­ting skills on one-down bat­ting po­si­tion and played some pow­er­ful shots.—APP
