SBP beat SJAL in exhibition cricket match
LAHORE—Sports Board Punjab (SBP) cricket team defeated Sports Journalists Association of Lahore (SJAL) by seven wickets in an exhibition floodlight cricket match here Monday night at Aleem Dar Cricket Academy ground.
Azhar Ali, the captain of Pakistan ODI team, was the chief guest on this occasion.
Deputy Director SBP Tariq Wattoo and former President of Lahore Press Club Arshad Ansarialso witnessed the thrilling encounter.
SJAL XI captain Mohammad Yaqoob won the toss and elected to bat first. SJAL XI scored 55 runs for the loss of four wickets in the stipulated overs. Hafiz Shahbaz, who hit 19 runs, was the major contributor for his team. He also struck a towering six in his brisk knock. SBP Abdul Lateef remained the most successful bowler with two wickets while Abid and Amir also dismissed one batsman each.
In reply, Assistant Director SBP Waqas Akbar and Olympian Kh Junaid opened the innings and provided their team a reasonable start. Director Sports Punjab Hafeez Bhatti also exhibited his batting skills on one-down batting position and played some powerful shots.—APP
