leg­is­la­tor and AIP chair­man Er Rashid was on Wed­nes­day mar­shalled out of the Jammu and Kash­mir legislative assem­bly af­ter he ve­he­mently de­manded the re­lease of a Mus­lim leader from Jammu booked un­der the draconian Pub­lic Safety Act (PSA).

Syed Shabir Ah­mad Shah, pres­i­dent Mus­lim De­vel­op­ment Fo­rum, was re­port­edly booked un­der the PSA for “be­ing a threat to peace”.

As Rashid raised the is­sue and sought the re­lease of Shah, BJP law­mak­ers con­fronted him by say­ing that he was dis­rupt­ing the pro­ceed­ings of the House. Later, he was mar­shalled out of the house.—GK
