All en­v­i­ron-po­lio test sam­ples found neg­a­tive in Pe­shawar: DC

PE­SHAWAR—Deputy Com­mis­sioner Riaz Khan Mehsud on Thurs­day re­vealed that for the first time all the en­vi­ron­men­tal sam­ples for po­lio were found neg­a­tive in Pe­shawar.

Brief­ing PTI Chair­man Im­ran Khan here at Chief Min­is­ter House on po­lio erad­i­ca­tion mea­sures, he said that soon the pro­vin­cial metropolis would be­come po­lio free, adding that the num­ber of dis­si­dent par­ents have also re­duced to 247 from 18,800.

He said that due to hec­tic ef­forts of var­i­ous teams and po­lio staff the po­lio erad­i­ca­tion cam­paign could yield re­sult. The meet­ing was at­tended by Chief Min­is­ter Pervez Khat­tak, Chief Sec­re­tary Am­jad Ali Khan, Min­is­ter for Health, Ad­di­tion­nal Deputy Com­mis­sioner, As­sis­tant Com­mis­sioner and oth­ers high of­fi­cials.

Mean­while, Chair­man PTI awarded com­men­da­tion cer­tifi­cates to po­lio erad­i­ca­tion teams on good per­for­mance and ap­pre­ci­ated their ef­forts for the no­ble cause. Spe­cial Cam­paign launched by EOC FATA in re­cently de­no­ti­fied 3 tehsils of South Waziris­tan has been suc­cess­fully com­pleted.—APP
