All environ-polio test samples found negative in Peshawar: DC
PESHAWAR—Deputy Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud on Thursday revealed that for the first time all the environmental samples for polio were found negative in Peshawar.
Briefing PTI Chairman Imran Khan here at Chief Minister House on polio eradication measures, he said that soon the provincial metropolis would become polio free, adding that the number of dissident parents have also reduced to 247 from 18,800.
He said that due to hectic efforts of various teams and polio staff the polio eradication campaign could yield result. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, Chief Secretary Amjad Ali Khan, Minister for Health, Additionnal Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner and others high officials.
Meanwhile, Chairman PTI awarded commendation certificates to polio eradication teams on good performance and appreciated their efforts for the noble cause. Special Campaign launched by EOC FATA in recently denotified 3 tehsils of South Waziristan has been successfully completed.—APP
