First successful kidney transplant performed at local hospital
ISLAMABAD—The first successful kidney transplant operation was performed at the local private hospital Quaid-e-Azam International (QIH) here on Wednesday. According to the hospital spokesperson it was first successful kidney transplant operation conducted by a team of doctors led by Brig (R) Dr. Waqar Azeem Niaz Urologist & Tranplant surgeon.
Speaking after the completion of successful Transplant, Dr. Waqar Azeem Niaz said that dialysis was not a permanent solution to the severe kidney diseases patients. Having the kidney transplant completely changes the lives of kidney patients and they live normal life.
Dr. Shaukat Ali Bangash , Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the QIH congratulated Brig Dr. Waqar Azeem Naiz and his team on this landmark success and expressed hope that kidney transplant patients will benefit out of this excellent facility . The surgery was performed last week and the patient has recovered at fast pace.
Earlier on Tuesday, first Rotablator case was successfully been performed in the same hospital by Dr. Parvez Khan, Consultant cardiologist. This is another milestone in treatment of patients with calcified lesions in the Coronary Artery.
According to the QIH administration it is first case in any private set up in the twin cities.
