First suc­cess­ful kid­ney trans­plant per­formed at lo­cal hospi­tal

ISLAMABAD—The first suc­cess­ful kid­ney trans­plant op­er­a­tion was per­formed at the lo­cal pri­vate hospi­tal Quaid-e-Azam In­ter­na­tional (QIH) here on Wed­nes­day. Ac­cord­ing to the hospi­tal spokesper­son it was first suc­cess­ful kid­ney trans­plant op­er­a­tion con­ducted by a team of doc­tors led by Brig (R) Dr. Waqar Azeem Niaz Urol­o­gist & Tran­plant sur­geon.

Speak­ing af­ter the com­ple­tion of suc­cess­ful Trans­plant, Dr. Waqar Azeem Niaz said that dial­y­sis was not a per­ma­nent so­lu­tion to the se­vere kid­ney dis­eases pa­tients. Hav­ing the kid­ney trans­plant com­pletely changes the lives of kid­ney pa­tients and they live nor­mal life.

Dr. Shaukat Ali Ban­gash , Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer(CEO) of the QIH con­grat­u­lated Brig Dr. Waqar Azeem Naiz and his team on this land­mark suc­cess and ex­pressed hope that kid­ney trans­plant pa­tients will ben­e­fit out of this ex­cel­lent fa­cil­ity . The surgery was per­formed last week and the pa­tient has re­cov­ered at fast pace.

Ear­lier on Tues­day, first Rotab­la­tor case was suc­cess­fully been per­formed in the same hospi­tal by Dr. Parvez Khan, Con­sul­tant car­di­ol­o­gist. This is another mile­stone in treat­ment of pa­tients with cal­ci­fied le­sions in the Coro­nary Artery.

Ac­cord­ing to the QIH ad­min­is­tra­tion it is first case in any pri­vate set up in the twin cities.
