PSO en­ters into agree­ment for fuel sup­plies to Thar coal mines


KARACHI—The Pak­istan State Oil (PSO) has inked an agree­ment for fuel sup­plies to Thar coal mines, an an­nounce­ment said here on Thurs­day. It said that in or­der to main­tain seam­less HSD sup­plies to the Thar Min­ing Project Block II, Pak­istan’s top oil mar­ket­ing com­pany PSO has en­tered into an agree­ment with the China East Re­source Im­port & Ex­port Cor­po­ra­tion (CERIECO), the EPC (En­gi­neer­ing Pro­cure­ment & Con­struc­tion) and O&M (Op­er­a­tions & Main­te­nance) con­trac­tor of Sindh En­gro Coal Min­ing Co. (SECMC).

The sign­ing cer­e­mony was held at PSO House here, it was fur­ther pointed out. The con­tract is for the en­tire project pe­riod of the EPC stage be­tween CERIECO and SECMC and the O&M con­tract pe­riod be­tween the same par­ties. The deal is of ma­jor sig­nif­i­cance as it en­sures un­in­ter­rupted work on the Thar Min­ing Project which is a part of the China Pak­istan Eco­nomic Cor­ri­dor (CPEC). The project is also listed among the pri­or­i­tized projects of CPEC. PSO’s Gen­eral Man­ager Con­sumer Busi­ness, Raja Im­ran­ul­lah Khan, and Project Di­rec­tor CERIECO, LiKan signed the agree­ment. Also present at the sign­ing cer­e­mony were Di­rec­tor Min­ing SECMC Abul Fazl Rizvi, and PSO of­fi­cials.

Fo­ley (C) re­ceiv­ing the award from Bryon Wil­fert, Chair­man, CPBC, John McCal­lum, Min­is­ter of Im­mi­gra­tion, Refugees and Cit­i­zen­ship, Gov­ern­ment of Canada, As­ghar Ali Golo, Con­sul Gen­eral of Pak­istan and Samir Dos­sal, Pres­i­dent, CPBC.
