Dig­ni­fied re­turn of dis­placed per­sons top pri­or­ity: Jhagra

PE­SHAWAR —Khy­ber Pakhtunkhwa Gov­er­nor Iqbal Za­far Jhagra has said that dig­ni­fied re­turn of dis­lo­cated tribal fam­i­lies to their na­tive places was the top pri­or­ity of the gov­ern­ment.

The peo­ple of FATA had ren­dered great sac­ri­fices for peace of en­tire re­gion and sovereignty and in­tegrity of the coun­try. He was chair­ing a high-level meet­ing of FATA Dis­as­ter Man­age- ment Author­ity (FDMA) to re­view the repa­tri­a­tion process of TDPs in FATA here at Gov­er­nor house in Pe­shawar on Fri­day.

Be­sides Prin­ci­pal Sec­re­tary to Gov­er­nor, Sikan­dar Qayyum, DG FDMA, Fayyaz Ali Shah and other rel­e­vant of­fi­cials also at­tended the meet­ing. A de­tailed brief­ing was also given to the Gov­er­nor from DG FDMA. The meet­ing re­viewed the repa­tri­a­tion process of TDPs and dis­cussed the pre­vail­ing sit­u­a­tion in FATA. Dur­ing the brief­ing, the Gov­er­nor was told that the re­turn process of TDPs has al­ready been started and was go­ing on suc­cess­fully.

The Gov­er­nor di­rected the rel­e­vant of­fi­cials to use all avail­able re­sources for their as­sis­tance, re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion and ex­pe­di­tious re­set­tle­ment, adding that no com­pro­mise will be tol­er­ated in this re­gard. Ad­dress­ing the meet­ing, the Gov­er­nor said that dig­ni­fied re­turn and re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion of tem­po­rar­ily dis­placed peo­ple (TDPs) was the top pri­or­ity of the gov­ern­ment and steps had been taken to en­sure re­con­struc­tion and devel­op­ment of the re­gion.

The Gov­er­nor said that time has come to take con­crete mea­sures for the well­be­ing of tribal peo­ple and to re­dress their griev­ances on pri­or­ity. He said the gov­ern­ment knew prob­lems of tribes­men and ef­forts were be­ing made to de­velop the en­tire re­gion to link FATA peo­ple to the main­stream.

He said that tribes­men and our se­cu­rity forces had ren­dered the great sac­ri­fices to en­sure peace and sta­bil­ity in the area and their sac­ri­fices in the war against ter­ror­ism are highly valu­able and well ac­knowl­edged and will al­ways be re­mem­bered with ap­pre­ci­a­tion.
