High-pow­ered Rus­sian trade del­e­ga­tion likely to visit Pak­istan in Sept/Oct TDAP del­e­ga­tion holds meet­ing with Rus­sian Min­is­ter for In­dus­try, Trade

OB­SERVER RE­PORT MOSCOW—Pak­istan del­e­ga­tion led by S.M. Muneer, CEO, Trade Devel­op­ment Author­ity of Pak­istan (TDAP) met with Denis­muntrov, Min­is­ter of In­dus­try and Trade of Rus­sia. The CEO TDAP in­tro­duced the Pak­istan del­e­ga­tion to the Min­is­ter and briefed him about the pos­i­tive meet­ings held in Ufa and Kazan. He also ap­pre­ci­ated the good ges­ture of Rus­sians in LNG pipe­line in­vest­ment and of­fered the min­is­ter to also con­sider Pak­istan Steel project for ren­o­va­tion. He also told the min­is­ter that the del­e­ga­tion is here not only for sales but also to buy and also asked for the min­istry’s help to or­ga­nize Sin­gle coun­try ex­hi­bi­tion of Pak­istani prod­ucts in Rus­sia for which Min­is­ter agreed and asked to send de­tails and timings to look into it. Fa­rooq Afzal, Chair­man Pak Rus­sia Busi­ness Coun­cil re­quested min­is­ter to or­ga­nize Road Show of MC21 and Sakhoee 100 planes in Pak­istan and also sug­gested trade in re­spec­tive coun­try’s cur­ren­cies for which min­is­ter agreed.

On in­vi­ta­tion of CEO TDAP to visit Pak­istan, the Rus­sian Min­is­ter di­rected his col­leagues to ar­range a high pro­file del­e­ga­tion to Pak­istan in Septem­ber/Oc­to­ber 2016 un­der his lead­er­ship. He agreed to of­fer He­li­copters, com­mer­cial planes MC21 and Sakhoee 100 su­per jet to Pak­istan, He fur­ther told that these planes are much fuel ef­fi­cient than Air­bus and Boe­ing and are eco­nom­i­cal as well. He also told that LNG pipe­line project by Rus­sia in Pak­istan is a great break­through in diplo­matic and eco­nomic re­la­tion­ship and ex­pected to grow more meet­ing went very cor­dial and pos­i­tive. From Pak­istan Side Am­bas­sador of Pak­istan to Rus­sia Qazi Khalil Ul­lah also at­tended the meet­ing.

The CEO, TDAP in his ad­dress high­lighted the prob­lems be­ing faced by Pak­istani busi­ness com­mu­nity in­clud­ing non tar­iff bar­ri­ers. He in­formed that del­e­ga­tion is vis­it­ing this re­gion on spe­cial in­struc­tions of Prime Min­is­ter of Pak­istan and of­fered co­op­er­a­tion in de­vel­op­ing a strat­egy for en­hanc­ing trade re­la­tions. Pak­istani prod­ucts have huge po­ten­tial in tex­tile, leather, footwear, rice and fruits and veg­eta­bles.
