High-powered Russian trade delegation likely to visit Pakistan in Sept/Oct TDAP delegation holds meeting with Russian Minister for Industry, Trade
OBSERVER REPORT MOSCOW—Pakistan delegation led by S.M. Muneer, CEO, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) met with Denismuntrov, Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia. The CEO TDAP introduced the Pakistan delegation to the Minister and briefed him about the positive meetings held in Ufa and Kazan. He also appreciated the good gesture of Russians in LNG pipeline investment and offered the minister to also consider Pakistan Steel project for renovation. He also told the minister that the delegation is here not only for sales but also to buy and also asked for the ministry’s help to organize Single country exhibition of Pakistani products in Russia for which Minister agreed and asked to send details and timings to look into it. Farooq Afzal, Chairman Pak Russia Business Council requested minister to organize Road Show of MC21 and Sakhoee 100 planes in Pakistan and also suggested trade in respective country’s currencies for which minister agreed.
On invitation of CEO TDAP to visit Pakistan, the Russian Minister directed his colleagues to arrange a high profile delegation to Pakistan in September/October 2016 under his leadership. He agreed to offer Helicopters, commercial planes MC21 and Sakhoee 100 super jet to Pakistan, He further told that these planes are much fuel efficient than Airbus and Boeing and are economical as well. He also told that LNG pipeline project by Russia in Pakistan is a great breakthrough in diplomatic and economic relationship and expected to grow more meeting went very cordial and positive. From Pakistan Side Ambassador of Pakistan to Russia Qazi Khalil Ullah also attended the meeting.
The CEO, TDAP in his address highlighted the problems being faced by Pakistani business community including non tariff barriers. He informed that delegation is visiting this region on special instructions of Prime Minister of Pakistan and offered cooperation in developing a strategy for enhancing trade relations. Pakistani products have huge potential in textile, leather, footwear, rice and fruits and vegetables.
