Pakistan Observer - - KARACHI CITY - OUR REPORTER

KARACHI—Police said it had in raids in different localities arrested 5 persons, including two Afghanistan-trained terrorists, Thursday, while para-miliray Rangers force claimed to have arrested a persons belonging to a political party. The rangers did not name him but insiders said he belonged to MQM

Tension had been mounting between Rangers and MQM, which is evident from the fact that the Rangers in a warning Thursday morning, asked the people to refrain from giving zakat and fitra under duress, because it would not be tolerated. MQM had been over the years collecting such charities during Ramazan for its Khidmate Khale Foundation.

The two trained terrorists were arrested from Block 13-D of Gulshane Iqbal in the wee hours of morning. Of the five taken into custody, two were highly educated, and had been professionally trained in handling sophisticated equipment. They belonged to Al-Qaeda group of sub-continent.

A substantial cache of anti-aircraft gun, 5 kilo ball bearings, detonators, and many other kinds of arms and ammunition were recovered from their hide-out raid. Police claimed that the two knew how to assemble and dismantle arms and equipment and were planning a terrorist attack in Karachi. Rangers meanwhile claimed to have arrested one person, which it said belonged to a political party, which insiders reported was from MQM.
