KARACHI—Heroes CC Quetta sealed a re­mark­able vic­tory by just five runs af­ter de­fend­ing a mod­est 127-9 against Shameel As­so­ci­ates in the Omar As­so­ci­ates Tro­phy 31st Karachi Gymkhana Ra­mazan Cricket Fes­ti­val at the KG Ground here.

Opt­ing to bat first in the Group ‘C’ en­counter af­ter skip­per Naseer Khan won the toss, Heroes CC never man­aged to score freely. All­rounder Khushdil Shah hit just one four in mak­ing 26 from 29 balls, while opener Samiullah struck 25 off 27 balls with two fours and one six.

Slow left-armer Bi­lal Man­zoor was the stand­out bowler with ex­cel­lent fig­ures of 4-22 in his four overs. Off-spin­ner Mo­ham­mad Sami claimed 2-19 in four overs.

Shameel As­so­ci­ates, in re­ply, made a de­cent start to their chase as skip­per Mo­ham­mad Sami (51 off 39 balls, four sixes) and Mo­ham­mad Sa­j­jad (36 off 33, three boundaries and one six) added 62 in the open­ing nine overs be­fore fin­ish­ing at 122-4 in their al­lot­ted 20 overs.

But Heroes CC spin­ners kept a tight line to pre­vent their op­po­nents from dom­i­nat­ing. Off-spin­ner Khalid Khail picked up one wicket his four-over quota yielded just 10 runs. He was later ad­judged man-of-the-match.
