Tra­di­tion of out­door ‘sehri’ gain­ing pop­u­lar­ity

IS­LAM­ABAD—The tra­di­tion of out­door sehri gath­er­ings with fam­ily is gain­ing pop­u­lar­ity in twin cities of Rawalpindi and Is­lam­abad as many restau­rants of­fer af­ford­able deals dur­ing Ramzan. The ho­tel and restau­rants of­fer special Ramzan deals for fam­i­lies rang­ing from af­ford­able rates to ex­pen­sive ones depend­ing on the va­ri­ety and qual­ity of food items.

The sehri cul­ture at homes is now turn­ing into out­door sehri gath­er­ings in a way to share with fam­i­lies.

Be­sides gath­er­ings, sehri cul­ture are also emerg­ing as a po­ten­tial busi­ness for ho­tels and restau­rants, Zoya Khan, a house said. She said that sehri was usu­ally heavy, con­sist­ing mainly of tra­di­tional food treats such as ‘Ni­hari’,Paya’s and ‘Pheniyaan.—APP
